The following message from Ordnance Survey has been circulated to all Birmingham
City Council departments, including libraries. It is presumably relevant to all
public libraries:
"Copyright Helpline
It seems that OS Copyright Helpline (for local authority use only) gets a lot of
members of the public coming through phoning with a variety of map related
questions. It seems that local authorities are giving this number to members of
the public if they have a LA related Copyright query. On many occasions, the
public come through on this number wanting to buy maps. They then have to
transferred to the to the Customer Helpline 08456 050505. Please note that this
is the number to be given out to members of the public and non-Local Government
Organisations, Companies, etc.."
