sorry, i can't help with the substance of your post, re Palmwood, except
perhaps to say that, as a purely practical matter, palm (at least the American
palm trees i've seen the insides of over here) doesn't look at all like it
would make a very good wood for structural purposes (carpentry, crosses,
electric chairs, etc.).
but, of course, this would only affect the literal interpretation of the text,
not any of the "higher" meanings....
