It is my understanding that all Cistercian abbeys were/are dedicated to the
BVM. Do I need to alter my understanding?
Thanks,

In Ireland, it appears that there was similar diversification in the
dedication of the Cistercian abbeys. Gwynn & Hadcock, in their "Medieval
Religious Houses - Ireland", in the chapter on Cistercian Monks, say "In
Ireland St. Benedict's name is included in the dedication at the abbeys of
Holycross, Kilcooly, Killenny, Monasterevin and Newry. There is evidence
that communities of monks existed at Holycross and Killenny for a
considerable time before they were officially affiliated to the Cistercian
order, and for a shorter time at Kilcooly, Monasterevin and Newry."
