medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Are there any cases of very late canonizations where there HASN'T been a
local cult for centuries?
My main source for official status of cults is Schauber and Schindler's
Bildlexikon der Heiligen---which tends to distinguish between canonized,
beatified, and "cult formally approved." Is there a less formal process
that gives papal approbation to a pre-existing cult?
