medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Bro. Thomas, To follow up on Bonnie Blackburn's information on the Angelica,
it is a wonderful resource and the staff is very helpful and generous. It
is especially rich in information about Augustine and the Hermits of
Augustine. The collection used to be merely the library for the adjoining
church of S. Agostino but in the 16th century Angelo Rocca gave the library
his considerable private collection. It is a beautiful space and very user
friendly. One fabulous advantage of the library is that it has long
uninterrupted hours. If memory serves, it is open until 7PM in the winter.
The only difficulty with the library is that if one wants to order
microfilm, xeroxes or the like, one must send payment to the state since it
is now a state library. It is an awkward process although one eventually
gets the material. Hope this helps. sharon dale

Subject: [M-R] Zumkeller manuscript identification
medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear Colleagues,
I am currently working on a biographical register of the religious licensed
in theology at Paris between 1373 and 1500. Adolar Zumkeller, in his book,
Manuskripte von Werken der Autoren des Augustiner-Eremitenordens in
mitteleuropäischen Bibliotheken. Cassiacum, 20. Würzburg: Augustinus-Verlag,
1966, mentions in his entry for Jacobus de Metis, OESA, the following on 205
(#427): "Er schieb im Jahre 1400 die römische Handschrift Angelica 835." Can
anyone suggest where I might find out the contents of that manuscript or a
description of the manuscript, or even the library in which it is housed? We
don't have the Zumkeller book in our collection, and I'd appreciate very
much any help you may be able to give.
