medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Calculating Easter and other dates is certainly possible, and I think
there are websites that will do the calculations for you. (Others may
have more information on this.) There are, however, tables that allow one
to see the entire liturgical year for every possible date of Easter, and I
find those very helpful. The ones I use are in C. R. Cheney, A Handbook
of Dates for Students of English History, published in the Royal
Historical Society's series of Guides and Handbooks in 1945 and reprinted
in 1991.
When I refer to the "liturgical year," I am speaking of the temporale,
which is reasonably universal, as opposed to the sanctorale, which varies
enormously from place to place.
Best wishes,
John
