medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Musa did a translation, and it's a very good one in the sense that it's
quite accurate. If there's a Latin/English edition of it, though, I'm not
aware of it.
My own preference for a good read is still Ciardi for the Inferno, although
he takes remarkable liberties with the text at times. Canto V is a good
example, actually. For example, "We were alone with innocence and dim
time" for what essentially says, "We were alone there, without any
suspicion," a very interesting ambiguity. (We weren't suspected? We didn't
suspect what would happen? I've always been progressively less impressed
with his translation of the next two, but that may be my problem, not his.
