As many people have pointed out, our automated library
systems will provide better information than date stamps
for stock work purposes. So the real issue is really a
case of how helpful the customer finds them, I'm sure we
all do 'user' and 'non-user' surveys, so perhaps we should
be asking our customer base what they want, rather than
being arrogant enough to try and decide for them. Picking
up on the point that has been made that this is about
wider issues (i.e. what the family watch on TV tonight!),
perhaps everyone should be putting their energy into
debating the wider (genuine) issues, and bringing about
some real change........................
