Two PhD-projects are on offer at Geologie-Endogene Dynamik, Aachen
University, Germany, with Prof. Dr. Janos Urai and Dr. Christoph
Hilgers.
-Fracture sealing processes in the Buntsandstein ? comparison of nature
and see-through experiments
-Deformation and transport processes in halite: a microtectonics study
Both projects focus on the microstructural evolution around salt
structures in the Central European Basin System. One project will
concentrate on the formation of veins, based on real rock studies and
see-through experiments. The other will study the microstructure of
natural salt using novel techniques such as gamma-decorated thin
sections and X-ray orientation imaging.
The projects are paid at BAT II a/2, which is about 1000 Euro, funded
for 2+1 years. They will start in March or April 2002. More informations
can be obtained from the web at www.rwth-aachen.de/ged (news/jobs), or
