Not here (well, no one's using IE4, but there are still a lot of Netscape
4 users), although I fight the fight where I can :-) I think it is
about time developers stopped pandering to the version 4 users. A year
ago I felt differently about it, but now with the advent of Netscape 7 and
Mozilla 1.0 I really think it's about time people moved on. There's no
excuse for using old browsers anymore, and the longer we encourage it
(by creating pages that look the same in NS4) the longer we'll
have to suffer from it.
I try and move people to Mozilla where I can, because it -looks- (or it
can look, if you don't change the skin) exactly like Netscape 4, and it
imports any Netscape 4 settings, so to all intents and purposes, it's the
same browser. Trying to get people to use IE is more difficult because
it's subtly different and "I haven't got time to learn something else!!".
We have stopped officially supporting Netscape as a browser in the
University, so to the best of my knowledge new PCs don't come with it
installed. If people want it, they'll have to download it
themselves. That should slowly reduce its use over time - everyone has to
give in and upgrade their PC eventually.
Solaris users are a whole other kettle of worms....
