Quite right Megan who said:
Just so, but there are limits to what we can actually do! Even if we take
this hypothetical blind student to a forest, he'll be able to smell and feel
the trees, but he still will not be able to see them.
While it is right and proper to look at different ways of presenting
INFORMATION so that as many folks as possible can access and understand it,
we cannot guarantee the same 'experience' to all. Say we were looking at a
tropical rain forest environment for a geography lesson. A student who had
visited somewhere like the Amazon 'jungle' or parts of Africa would have
much more to draw on than one who could only read or listen to a
description, watch a video, etc.
In days to come, she says getting out her crystal ball, we will be plugging
all students into a direct brain interface virtual reality system... and
then maybe everyone will 'perceive' the same thing. Until then, we'll just
have to do the best we can with the tools available.
Megan.

We can only go so far - I suppose the act is making everyone take some steps
(some will already have taken several steps in this direction) everyone's
experience will be different - drawing upon that experience ought to be
enriching for everyone irrespective of their dis/ability.
