Oxford Events 2003: ICT in Teaching and Learning
Oxford University's Learning Technologies Group
(http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/ltg/) is pleased to announce two events to be
held in Oxford in 2003 looking at ICT in Teaching and Learning. Further
details will follow but please make a note of the dates in your diary!
1. 'Shock of the Old 3'
10th April 2003 [All Day]
University of Oxford
This event will explore the problems and issues involved in designing and
developing learning technologies for particular disciplines and
subjects. A call for papers is currently circulating. Please see

2. "Beyond Theory: Educational best practice and the use of ICT
for teaching and learning"
11th April 2003
Oxford Union Debating Chamber
University of Oxford
This event has been sponsored by the JISC Committee for Learning and
Teaching.
'Beyond Theory' will look at whether pedagogical theory/best practice has
fed into the development of ICT material for T&L, and if not, why not? Can
this situation be remedied? The event will also include a lengthy debate
on the motion:
"This house believes that commercial Virtual Learning
Environments (LMS) provide sufficient facilities for the teaching and
learning needs of Higher and Further Education"
Speakers so far for the whole day *include*: Professor Oleg Liber
(Bolton), Dr. Gilly Salmon (Open University Business School), Dr. Andrew
Ravenscroft (UNL), Professor Angela McFarlane (Bristol), Professor David
Unwin (UK eUniversities Worldwide), Bill Olivier (CETIS), and Tom Franklin
