SARs 2001: Consultation meeting on October 11th
We now have an initial response from ONS to our proposals for
2001 SARs. ONS propose a reduction in detail on the request made and, in
some cases, a reduction in the detail available for 1991 SARs. The key
points are:
· No reduction in population threshold for the Individual SAR
· Reduction in detail on occupational coding
· Reduction in coding on ethnic group
· Some grouping of years of age
· Professional qualifications available only as a summary binary
category
· Reduction in detail on type of communal establishment
· For the Household SAR, individual records only available for
households with 7 or less (in 1991 the threshold was 12 individuals)
ONS wish to consider other options for making more individual detail
available – for example an additional file with geographical information at
regional level only.
We are holding a meeting at the RSS in London on Friday October 11th to
discuss this response and to give SAR users a chance to explain the
potential impact in
their research. If you would like an opportunity to make your voice
heard please come.
