Virtual Learning and Higher Education Conference
10 to 11 September 2002, Oxford, United Kingdom
Higher Education has been frequently described as being
in a state of crisis. Indeed some have proclaimed the
University "dead". Within these analyses modern
Information and Communication Technologies are often
seen as the main contributor. What future has Higher
Education when the virtual world of on-line education has
so much more to offer? The aim of this conference will be
to examine Virtuality within Higher Education in an
attempt to critique both its characteristics and its future.
Being such a broad topic, Virtuality defies a definitive list
of sub-topics but the following list is indicative of the
envisaged topics covered within this Call for Papers:
* The technologies of the future within Higher Education
* Learning appropriateness to Virtual Worlds
* Current examples
* Virtual Vs Physical
* Education management issues of Virtual systems
* Experiences in other parts of the World
It is the aim of the organising committee that in order to
best encourage intellectual rigour at this opening
Conference project, numbers will be restricted to a
maximum of 30 individuals presenting papers. As a
consequence there will be no parallel sessions. Papers
will be peer reviewed. All papers accepted for and
presented at the conference will be published in an ISBN
eBook. Selected papers will be developed and published
in a themed hard copy book.
