Dear all, you may remember the mail about products and parts, thank you
very much for all of you who take some time to answer, your answers have
been quite helpful.
Continuing with my research, now I am struggling with the next issue:
I hope everyone agrees with this statement: when a product is being
redesigned and keeps its function then we have a new version of the same
product.
Here it's my doubt: if the product keeps the function, but in the
redesign process changes the concept under which it works then is it a
new product or a new version of the same product?
Let me use an example, when Mr Dyson developed his new vacuum cleaner
based on a cyclone it is a new product for him. Due to the success of
this product some competitors change the concept of the old vacuum
cleaners based on a bag to keep the dust, but the function is the same
(i.e. soak up the dust), is this a new version of the same product or a
new product?
Thanks for your contributions
Regards
Adrian
