Salary: within the range Euro 23,965 - Euro 32,069, depending on
qualifications/experience.
The Department of Music, UCC, requires a Technician for its computing and
electronic music resources. This new post is part of a significant
expansion in the Department's commitment to providing improved computing
and internet facilities for all students and staff (including a major
development of online services), and to developing further its sound
studio for composition and specialized projects in music technology. The
successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain several
cross- platform computer networks in the Department; oversee and maintain
the sound studio equipment, assist with strategic planning for purchases
and provide technical support, to both students and staff, in the use of
the Department's hardware and software. He/she shall also operate
recording equipment for concerts and performance examinations, oversee the
Department's video and audio equipment and maintain the individual
computers provided for staff and students.
The ideal candidate should have a suitable third-level qualification in IT
and/or Music Technology and must be familiar with the major PC operating
systems, including Windows 2000 Server and Mac OS X (Server). The
candidate will also have a proven track record in setting up and
maintaining networks. Some musical literacy and familiarity with
music-studio hardware and music software is highly desirable, as is
experience of the Apache HTTP server.
