COSTING AND PRICING TECHNIQUES
28 May & 4 December, London
More and more organisations are operating under purchaser/provider or
internal trading arrangements. Market testing and comparing and contrasting
costs with other providers is increasingly required in all sectors. Managers
may now find themselves in a position where they have to justify outcomes
achieved against resources used, or having to quote prices for the use of
their library/information unit's services.
BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
Participants will learn how to use costing and pricing techniques to manage
a service successfully, including identifying costs of services, evaluating
the difference between cost and price, setting prices, identifying key
management issues involved when working within the purchaser/provider split,
internal trading, market testing, tendering and Best Value regimes and
building their confidence in costing and quoting prices for services.
BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE:
* identified ways of breaking down costs and allocating them to different
activities
* calculated hourly rates for charging for professional advice
* compared costs with other providers in an informed way
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Senior library and information professionals who are required to cost part
of their services, such as an hourly rate of professional advice or a cost
per 100 issues for benchmarking or charging purposes. Participants should
have an awareness of the broader cost issues relating to service delivery.
PLACES ARE LIMITED TO: 16
SPECIAL NOTES: Please bring a pocket calculator with you.
