We are seeking an enthusiastic, qualified Librarian to lead a small team
providing library and information services to public health and primary
care NHS professionals in Essex. The Essex Public Health Resource Unit
Library was formed in April 2002 by the merger of the former health
authority library services in north and south Essex.
You will play a key role in planning the strategic direction of the library
service developing its role in making knowledge more accessible to local
decision-makers. You will provide a high-quality literature searching
service to support evidence-based practice and will exploit opportunities
to develop and deliver current awareness information. You will take the
lead on the development of the Essex Public Health Resources Unit's
website. Your role will involve providing outreach services to users in the
workplace including information skills training and advice and
publicity/promotion.
You should have at least two years' post-qualification experience
preferably within a health environment. You must have the energy and vision
to develop a high-quality customer focused service and will require
excellent organisational skills and an ability to deal with pressure. IT
and information literacy and a strong interest in web technology are
essential. You must also possess a high level of literature searching
expertise.
The library is temporarily located in Brentwood and will be moving to the
Witham, Braintree and Halstead area in the near future.
