The American University in Cairo
GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN FORCED MIGRATION AND REFUGEE STUDIES 2002/2003
Are you looking for a graduate program in Refugee and Human Rights that will
prepare you to:
- Start on a career in teaching and research in a relatively new and growing
academic field?
- Do professional work in humanitarian assistance?
- Be a human rights advocate?
- Have input into policy-making?
The graduate diploma in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies offers a chance
to pursue full or part-time academic qualification and receive hands-on
training in the Middle East.
The Study of Forced Migration and Refugees at AUC
AUC offers the only graduate program in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies
in the Middle East. This interdisciplinary program is designed to address
the growing need for trained policy-makers, human rights advocates, and
those working in humanitarian assistance. For students wishing to pursue
further disciplinary training in law and the social sciences, the FMRS
Diploma prepares students for graduate research in the field and beyond.
FMRS supports ongoing research programs and is also involved in service to
the community. These programs respond to the specific needs of the Middle
East and Africa. Students are encouraged to participate in hands-on research
and outreach activities.
Who Should Apply?
Although the Diploma can be completed in one year, professionals in the
field may pursue full or part-time study according to their schedules.
Eligibility for graduate study at AUC includes a GPA at the undergraduate
