A panel of government and non-governmental legal experts will address
important recent developments in United States immigration law and policy
affecting immigrants and visitors to this nation. Topics will include the
immigration-related provisions of the terrorism legislation; newly issued
detention standards facilitating consular access to immigration detainees;
consular notification procedures under the Vienna Convention; and reform
efforts for immigration detainees, including children and others. The
panelists will discuss new procedures and issues of particular concern to
the legal and diplomatic communities. The panel will be followed by a
reception. Please be advised that the Embassy's entrance for parking is
located at C Street off of Pennsylvania Avenue. The Canadian Embassy also
requires photo identification for entry.
