Dear Friends,
Deleuze in his Cinema 1 (The Movement-image), in the paragraphs about
the affection-image (Face and the close-up) speaks about
an unpublished work of Michel Courthial about the face.
It's title is: Le visage.
Does anybody know something about this work, was it ever
published, or not, or does this Michel Courthial published
anywhere anything else connected to film, or faces?
I am working on a study about the bressonian use of close-up
(faces, hands, feet). Could you suggest any other
references (instead of Bela Balazs's, Epstein's and Levinas' writings, and
Jacques Aumont's Du Visage au Cinema) about the use of face-close-up
in film? Or other director's films, instead of Bresson, Cavalcanti,
Bergman, Dreyer, Tarkovsky, Godard? It would be a great help for me.
Thanks a lot,
