It is great to hear something of Terence Malick
here!!!
I still didnt read Critchley's Malick text. Hovewer,
it is one of the director that I admire very much.
When I first saw one of his film I think in which
Richard Gere acts..I cant remember its
title..something like "autumn"???. I was really
impressed by this film. After I saw "Red Thin Line" it
was at the same time in release with "Saving Private
Ryan" in Istanbul. So I watch them in the same week.Of
course they are not similar movies, the narrative of
the movies and their basic stories where different.
However, the moral relation between two concepts of
"individual" and "war" was inert in both movies....and
I couldnt keep away myself comparing the both movies
at that time. "Red Thin Line" is really effective and
"simple" and "real" in giving this relation to the
audience. I mean.. at least it was very impressive for
me.
regards,
pelin.
