I’m currently putting together a proposal for the Scottish Executive on
Children’s attitudes to sustainable transport. Two key parts of the
proposal include the following:
To carry out a desk-based review of the Scottish curriculum content
relating to transport and the environment or sustainability. This may
include reference to travel and transport, climate change, and broader
sustainability issues.
Review teachers’ guides and support material produced by Learning and
Teaching Scotland for specific mention of transport and the environment or
sustainability. This may include reference to travel and transport, climate
change, and broader sustainability issues.
Review research evidence which comments on the influence of education on
transport choices in later life within the UK or further afield.
Review other sources of environmental and sustainable transport information
for children and young people – for example information disseminated via
uniformed organisations such as Scouts and Guides, after-school clubs,
youth groups, sports organisations or church groups.
I’m looking for a project partner to take an advisory role in the project.
DHC is a small transport consultancy based in Edinburgh. I am just
starting to work for DHC with my husband Paul. My background is 4 years as
a geography teacher in Oxfordshire, 18 months producing CEEmail with
Council for Environmental Education, 2 years with Oxfordshire County
Council as a School Travel Plans Officer.
Any advice or any one wishing to talk more about joint working on this
please contact me asap. The deadline for submission of the proposal is
20th December.
Thanks
Philippa
