CANADIAN JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION - CALL FOR PAPERS
The theme for Volume 8 of CJEE will be "Exploring New Genres of Research in
Environmental Education" and will be guest edited by Constance Russell,
Lakehead University, and Paul Hart, the University of Regina. CJEE would
like to compile a series of papers which will provide background, historical
context and a foundation for discussion and debate about methodology and
method in several emerging genres of inquiry in environmental education
(e.g. critical ethnography, phenomenology, narrative inquiry, participatory
action research, poststructural and postmodern approaches, postcolonial
approaches, feminist/ecofeminist approaches, cultural studies, ecocriticism,
etc.).
Submissions will be accepted between September 1st and November 15th.
Interested contributors should send a one-paragraph outline to either editor
by August 31st. Please contact either guest editor

THE ROLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
September 11-13 - Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa
South Africa has been selected to host the Environmental Management for
Sustainable Universities 2002 Conference, with Rhodes University as the host
institution. This international event will follow the World Summit on
Sustainable Development and will create a forum for international academics,
students and administrators to deliberate the role of tertiary institutions
in contributing to sustainable development. The EMSU Conference will bring
into focus recent international trends towards improved environmental
management in tertiary institutions and will foreground the responsibility
of academics to contribute to the sustainability debate at a conceptual
level through teaching and research.
