Both Ruth Hillary and I who co-facilitate "total-quality-ecosys" would
like to introduce you to Sustainable-Org, an evolution of
Total-Quality-EcoSys. The change in name effective from 30 April 2002 is
in line with its widened scope to reflect greater environmental, social,
economic and organisational concerns in pursuit of sustainable excellence.
Sustainability was defined by the World Commission on Environment and
Development (the Bruntland Commission, 1987), as "the ability to meet
today's global economic, environmental and social needs without
compromising the opportunity for future generations to meet theirs."
Sustainable-org (http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/sustainable-org.html)
is a forum for people to share and exchange perspectives with a view to
improving social factors, environmental performance and competitiveness
and enhancing market share by adopting and improving sustainability
practices. The primary aim of the forum is to disseminate discussions
that reflect current issues to operationalising Sustainable Development
at the organisational level (though not exclusively; regional, national,
international perspectives will also be facilitated).
Contributions are welcome from both the academic and business community
and we both look forward to your participation.
Regards,
Chris
