I am planning an article for the Journal of the Society of Archivists on the
employment of archivists, archive assistants, conservators and records
managers with disabilities.
"Disability" here will mean any condition, whether visible or invisible,
mild or severe, that alters a person's ability to carry out day to day tasks
or their working regime. Some broad areas of interest are prolonged physical
or mental illness, hearing or vision impairment, wheelchair users, people of
limited mobility, physical disfigurement and learning disabilities.
In order to supplement our own experiences in Canterbury I would be
interested to hear of all your experiences, whether good or bad, and find
out the problems and emotions that have been encountered and the solutions
(or lack of) that have been found.
All information will be treated in confidence and no person or repository
will be identified in the final article.
