Dear colleagues,
Currently, I'm preparing a publication dealing with Elatine species,
based on several recent finds in the Netherlands. This genus
(waterwort in English) comprises only few species, most of them
are highly characteristic of freshwater tidal areas.
To prevent the suggestion of spreading virusses, I refer to an image
of
Elatine hexandra/triandra to be found at the AEA image gallery, see
the
menu within:
http://www.envarch.net
Elatine hydropiper is the third and last species of this genera native
in the Netherlands. I would be interested in other finds of either of
these three species, and also in other species of this genera in
archaeobotanical material, as long as they indicate the same specific
habitat.
The resulting publication will be submitted to Environmental
Archaeology,
the journal of the above-mentioned Association for Environmental
Archaeology (details can be found on the website above).
All the best,
oTTo
