Research Associate - Statistics
The MRC Biostatistics Unit aims to advance medical science by
the development and application of statistical methodology.
It is the UK's leading biostatistics research institution,
and comprises a number of internationally renowned statisticians.
The appointee will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
developing novel statistical methodologies for modelling of
communicable diseases, in particular modelling of the
Hepatitis C Virus epidemic. The successful applicant will
contribute both to methodological developments and their
implementation. This is a collaboration with the Public
Health Laboratory Service and the Centre for Research on
Drugs and Health Behaviour at Imperial College.
The appointment will be for 2 years. Applicants should
have (or be submitting) a PhD in Statistics or Medical
Statistics, or have an MSc with some years of experience
of research in statistics , as well as the ability to work
in a team and very good communication skills. A good
working knowledge of statistical packages is necessary
and some knowledge of programming languages is desirable.
An appointment in MRC band 4 is expected, with initial
salary likely to be in the range £20,320 - £24,384.
