TnT is a robust assay capable of quantifying low
levels of analyte with good precision (CV < 10% at
incredibly low TnT level of 0.04 ug/L). The IFCC
recommends TnT > 0.2 ug/L as cut off level c/w WHO
acute MI (see attached report). This is going to
increase the incidence and prevalence of acute
MI/acute coronary syndrome in any population but this
should be regarded as a true increase, as now we have
at our disposal more specific powerful tests capable
of identifying minor but significant degrees of
myocardial damage.
