Dear All,
Is anyone aware of any published audit standards or guidelines for the
measurement and interpretation of B12 and folate?. We have seen an enormous
increase in requests from GPs in particular; the standard clinical
information is usually "TATT" (tired all the time). I am then left with
phone calls from the GPs asking for help in interpretation, further
investigations (?IF antibodies, MMA, fasting gastrin, Schillings etc) and
whether treatment should be initiated. To make matters worse, our
haematologists all seem to have different thoughts on the subject.
We hope to conduct an audit in N.Ireland on this difficult subject but
require some standards and guidelines before we can do so.
Can anyone help?
