Hi Dennis,
It's all right I've calmed down now. You do make some
valid points about participation and communication. I
suppose it will always be a case of the silent
majority for whatever reason. These forums, and the
Biomedscience forum too, are there for people to use.
If they choose not to take up that option, at least we
can hope that they read the postings and keep abreast
of current debate. They don't write to either the ACB
News or the Biomedical Scientist either, so it can't
just be the internet access issue. If you read the
IBMS Forum and look at the Clinical Chemistry section,
you will find that, sadly, no-one goes in there.
Posting serious questions or requests for information
gets you virtually no response. I must say that I have
been delighted by the almost instantaneous response
from members of this Forum, and am grateful for the
wealth of information generously shared. Perhaps the
ACB, dare I suggest, should try a little pro-active
advertising to IBMS members to join. A recent
discussion with fellow staff showed that practically
everybody was ignorant of the fact that BMS can join
the ACB. "Oh that's only for the Pathologists" seemed
to be the universal opinion.
By the way, whatever happened to the proposal to unite
the RCPath and the IBMS? Or did I dream that one?
Oh, and bring your own flying helmet!
Jan
