We are getting a marked increase in the number of requests for
Vitamin D and metabolites in a variety of clinical situations. As a
consequence we would like to write some guidelines for clinical staff
outling when these tests are appropriate and possibly those situations
where they are not worthwhile. This is not straightforward and I wonder
if anyone has already tackled this problem and can give advice.
We send our Vitamin D samples away for analysis and the cost is
substantial.
