Good Day,
I have a 77 male patient known for Parkinsonism on Sinemet.Presenting with intermittent flushing with no histroy of palpitation, sweating or wieght lost.He is noromotensive.
24h urine collection for free catecholamines on HPLC was done
norepinephrine 343 nmol/day (0-480)
epinephrine 28 nmol/day (0-110)
dopamine 55486 nmol/day (0-2620)
How long after stopping sinemet you can measure free catecholamines and metabolites in urine ?
How does Sinemet interfer on HPLC (FALSE POSITIVE RESULTS),is it by simply blocking decarboxylase and decrease dopa degerdation or is there another mechanism ?
Thank You.
