Hi Doug,
I attended a meeting recently on Modernisation Agency's programme for critical care. Basically during the first round of consultations, clinical scientists and other health care professionals were not included. The oversight meant that they would have had to delay putting this paper out for a significant period of time, if they wanted to do re-consulatations of these groups they had missed. Therefore, they went ahead and published this paper with the statement that they were currently involved with speaking to AHPs/healthcare scientists and that the issues they put forward would be included in future.
To get involved in this, there should be a local critical care network for your hospital and also one for your region. I suggest you contact the ITU consultant/Clinical Nurse Manager as they would certainly be a part of this.
For further information, Fran Woodard is the lead for this programme.
