I've service level agreements with the two PCT's we support. It wasn't easy
and it was handled 'diplomatically but we dicussed with Clinical governance
leads the benefits of standardising POCT support across areas such as
urinalysis, glucose monitoring, preg testing & A1c analysis and found they
were very interested. Once ther are on board and they see it as a clinical
governance issue then the other hurdle is setting up contracts. That a pain!
We set the contract in two parts 1) training and on going support and 2)
consumables - cost reviewed on the basis of use reviewed yearly. Most GP's
we found were paying retail prices for strips so we were able to show a
substantial saving for them over their existing costs. It only works however
if you can control purchase and distribution of consumables
hope this is helpful

Subject: Service Level Agreement
Has anybody agreed a service level agreement with their POCT users. If so, I
wonder if they would be willing to share their agreement with me, or pass on
any tips about drawing one up.
