Recently our paediatric diabetic nurse have sent me a
photocopied page no. 29 from Diabetes Update Summer
2002, and in it a statement about changes in the
production of Lucozade. For sparkling glucose energy
drink, 73 kcal/100 mL formulation, the volume of
Lucozade to provide the equivalent of 75 g anhydrous
glucose or 82.5 g glucose monohydrate is 394 mL. The
weight of Lucozade to provide the equivalent of 75 g
anhydrous glucose or 82.5 g glucose monohydrate is 421
g. For children the recommended test load is 1.75 g
glucose per kg body weight up to a total of 75 g, this
is equivalent to 9.2 mL Lucozade per kg body weight up
to a total of 394 mL.
We usually perform GTT on a number of subjects so for
3 people we have to open 4 bottles.
regards
Mohammad
