I thought I would mail this to find if other participating offices have been
experiencing similar results form the current National User Survey as we are
at Lancashire.
This year we have found that we have not only been handing out less
questionnaires ( which implies a higher level of repeat visits over the
survey period), but also have been finding a much higher percentage of
people failing to complete the forms and hand them back in. Is this a
pattern which is being repeated in other offices?
I wonder if we are seeing the onset of Survey fatigue. It had not struck me
previously that when libraries carry out their parallel surveys the user
base is sufficiently large for individuals not to be asked to complete forms
every time there is a survey, with the result that completion rates will
hold up over the years. Maybe we have traded too long on the goodwill of our
users to provide information.................
