Title: Applications of Global Positioning System (GPS) In Vehicle and
Personal Tracking Studies
Speaker: Dr Jean Wolf, President, GeoStats, USA.
Abstract: This seminar will present an overview of transportation
applications in which Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies are
ideal for the collection of second-by-second date, time, position,
heading, and speed data. Several recent travel studies using GPS to
collect detailed information on motorized and personal travel will be
reviewed. The seminar will wrap up with examples of how GPS data are
processed to address study objectives.
Biography: Dr. Jean Wolf obtained her PhD in Civil Engineering from
Georgia Tech for research into the application of Global Positioning
System (GPS) to the collection of vehicle and personal travel data.
GeoStats has developed GPS Data Loggers for a variety of travel survey
projects and travel time studies as well a Palm-based visitor surveys and
transit system inspection surveys.
