For some time Yahoo.com has offered historical share prices in tabular
format for US listed companies via its Yahoo! Finance service. A similar
service is now available for other stock markets. When you search for
information on a stock, the data now includes a link to the historical
prices page that lists the actual figures.
The default date range for daily prices is the most recent 90 trading days
and data includes the daily open, high, low, close and volume for each
trading day in the chosen date range. Weekly historical quotes retrieve
the open trade from the first trading day for the week, the high and low
price quotes of the week, and the closing price on the last trading day of
the week. The default date range for the weekly table is 52 weeks. For
monthly quotes, the default date range is 2 years. If available,
historical quotes typically go back to 1970.
There is currently no restriction to the amount of historical quote data
you can request, but only 200 rows will be displayed at a time. Links to
"Previous 200 records" and "Next 200 records" are available at the bottom
of the table. If you prefer, there is an option for downloading all of the
data in spreadsheet format.
