I had a similar problem when I came to write up my PDR. I found it a very
useful exercise in learning how to edit material! I think this is one
reason why PDRs can seem somewhat dry, as they are cut down to the bare
bone of detail. My draft was quite descriptive, but a lot of it just had to
go; it's amazing how many long phrases I had used when 1 or 2 words would
have done.
I took ages to get around to writing my PDR, I had loads of notes, and had
been on 2 chartership courses, but had no real push from my then employers
to do it, and so I could never quite get around to writing everything up.
Lesha & I discussed setting up this list which helped me think about
chartering, but what really pushed me into action was job hunting. I wanted
to submit before starting a new job, and I didn't want to have to include
details of more than one job in my PDR (too many words with just 1 job to
write about). I was lucky in that I could borrow a lap top from work to
take home (I don't have a PC at home), so one weekend I just got on with it.
So after qualifying in 1992, I finally got around to submitting in 2000!
Better late than never! And yes it was and is worth it.
