Hello Everyone,
I have just joined the salon and look forward to some stimulating exchanges
with other correspondents. I am a film writer and Film Studies Tutor
affiliated to the British Film Institute used mainly to reviewing and writing
film-historical features for the mainstream in which the intellectual
assumptions underpinning writing on the cinema are usually bypassed. Although
my first degree is in Philosophy, aside from a passing knowledge of a (very)
little Deleuze, Film Philosophy seems a new and challenging area to me. I am
excited by the possibilities. About to embark upon writing a textbook on
Realism, I am excited too by the significant, if limited, opportunity it
offers to dwell in philosophical issues.
I am also writing a book combining reception aesthetics with personal memory
and this has brought me into concision with some writings on emotion. When I
have the opportunity to go back to the ms, I hope to share some thoughts (and
confusions) with other interested parties.
Regards,
Richard Armstrong
