Well, I'm not an undergrad and haven't been one for much too long a time. I'm a
product of the scholarship/criticism program of the film department at Columbia
University (my BA in English is also from Columbia). Let's just say that my
freshman year was the same year as the last strike at CU against the Vietnam War
and you'll know just how decrepit I am.
I've worn a lot of hats over the last 25+ years, sportswriter, music critic,
writer on Jewish issues; but I keep coming back to film gratefully. I'm the film
critic for Jewish Week in New York City (the largest-circulation Jewish
newspaper in the US) and do a film column for a Philly-based quarterly. I'm
working on a book on American film and the Holocaust, which should come out
sometime in late 2004 or early 2005 (I hope). I live in upper, upper Manhattan
with my lovely wife (also a writer-editor) and two charming cats (they don't
write, but when it's time for cat puke, they're very incisive critics).
