Dear list members,
It will be appended to ISO 15189 - not only in New Zealand. At the last meeting of ISO/TC 212 in Uppsala in
June, it was to decided to develop this document as an additional Annex (normative) to 15189, rather than as a
separate International Standard. When it is finished, it can be published as a separate document, since 15189
will already be a published standard. When the second edition of 15189 is produced the POCT Annex will be
incorporated in the same document (at least, this is the intention, but things do not always go smoothly within
ISO).
As Chris says, it is a Working Draft (WD). This means it is still at an early stage of development and may
change considerably by the time it reaches the final vote. The usual sequence through which ISO standards go
is: Approved Work Item (AWI), Working Draft (WD), Committee Draft (CD), Draft International Standard (DIS),
Final Draft International Standard (FDIS), International Standard. Anyone interested in contributing to the
discussions should contact their national standards organization and express an interest (for the UK, the
relevant body is BSI).
Regards to all,
Des Kenny (Dublin)
