Hello Judith,
At Hartlepool we do very much the same as Northumberland.
Our charges for Spoken Word items are 40p per cassette for 2 weeks up to a
maximum of £1.55 (for 4 plus cassettes in one box). We don't charge fines
on late returns, we simply charge a re-hire fee.
We have started to buy more CD talking books recently and charge the same as
for the cassettes. However we did have one problem with these initially.
The plastic wallets that ISIS used to store the CD's in, gripped the CD so
tightly that anyone with a dexterity problem could not remove them from the
wallets, and when they were removed, the CD was damaged beyond repair. We
had to send a number of CDs back to ISIS along with a request for them to
change their storage wallets, (which they have done, so far!). We also
purchase CDs from Chivers and their storage wallets are no problem.
Regards,
Kathy Shiel

Shakespeare?

> What sort of storage do you use?
> How do you handle security?
> Last but not least what are your loan periods, and hire charges if any?
