Dear Ron (and lis-mappers),
I shall endeavour to shed some light on this one.
It looks like the Bodleian holds the complete set of five
volumes, plus a sixth volume consisting entirely of folded maps
bound into the spine. There appear to be two numbering sequences
in operation in this volume with a numbered series of maps
described as sketches, plus those plans numbered 31 to 42 (which
includes your "orphans").
[Ron - I can supply you a full list of maps off-list].
Volumes I to V all include text, while each volume (except for V)
includes bound folded maps. Your orphans therefore are included
as part of the sixth unnumbered volume, which contains only maps
and no text at all.
Sadly, we have no accompanying index. Indeed, it would appear
that these maps have not previously been catalogued, so it
looks like we'll be kept busy over the next few weeks.
With best wishes,
Nick Millea
