Dear all
Martin Walters has already pointed out the difficulties that arise
from very large messages being posted to the Geo-tectonics list.
His concern, quite understandably, was the time taken to download
over a modem link. As list owner I have other problems, many mail
systems are configured to reject messages over a certain size and
so I then have to deal with the resulting error messages.
Please remember that it's never a good idea to send very large
messages and there are alternatives. It is often possible to simply
give a pointer to a web site that carries all the necessary
information. When that option is not available do remember that
Geo-tectonics has a file store that everyone can access from the
lists home page -
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/geo-tectonics.html
Click on "Files associated with your list"
If you have a file that you would like to appear here, either a) send
it to me as an email attachement or b) (preferable) give me a
pointer to a web page that I can download it from, and I'll do the
rest.
Cheers
John Whalley, List owner
