POSITION: EUROPEAN HISTORY--EARLY MODERN/MEDIEVAL TENURE-TRACK/ASSISTANT
PROFESSOR
The Department of History invites applications for a full-time,
tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning
August 30, 2002. The successful candidate will teach upper-division
courses in early modern and medieval European history, World
Civilization survey, graduate courses, and other courses appropriate to
the candidate's expertise. Additionally, teaching over the interactive
television learning systems and/or at the Multi-Campus Regional Center
in Stockton, CA, will be required. Student advising will also be
included in the general duties.
SALARY RANGE: $41,940-$48,156, subject to legislative increase
QUALIFICATIONS: Historian with Ph.D. (or nearly completed doctorate) by
date of appointment with an emphasis in either early modern European or
medieval European history with ability to teach both fields. The
candidate should be able to demonstrate competence as a teacher and
provide evidence of scholarly promise. Applicants must have a strong
commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, research/scholarship,
and service to the university and community. Ability to work with a
diverse student population in a multicultural setting is required.
