medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
The number 144,000 comes from Revelation 7:4-8, where twelve thousand from
each of the twelve tribes (excluding Dan, but including Levi and the two
sons of Joseph) are sealed. What actually this sealing means is open to
debate. But the 144,000 can't be the limit of those saved, as Rev 7:9 goes
on to speak of "a great multitude which no man could number".
Hope that this helps. Would be interested in knowing more about the
Rosicrucian publication you're reading.
