Aim of the workshop
To provide the opportunity for experienced group facilitators to explore
advanced process techniques in a collaborative small group setting.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this 3-day workshop participants will
- understand the principles of the small group process
- feel confident about applying these principles to group work in a range of
settings
- separately identify 'content' and 'process' elements during group
interaction
- set up a new group, establish ground rules, and facilitate its work on a
set task
- recognise and manage dissent, conflict and creative tension within a group
- identify and manage different forms of dysfunctional behaviour
- identify and address the phenomenon of 'groupthink'
Structure of the workshop
Places on the workshop will be strictly limited to enable participants to
work in small groups of 6-8. Following a brief introductory plenary and a
review of progress at the end of each day, the entire workshop will be spent
in small groups led by experienced facilitators. Each group will identify
its own detailed objectives and develop a schedule for meeting them.
Resources available will include a range of presentation materials and a
video camera.
Facilitators
Group facilitators will include Professor Trisha Greenhalgh (UCL) and Dr
Glyn Elwyn (Cardiff).
Cost
The workshop costs #150 for the first delegate, and #100 for additional
