CFP: Religious Women and Enclosure
37th International Medieval Congress (Kalamazoo, 5/02)
The Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Bristol is
sponsoring a session on the abovementioned theme at the 37th
International Congress on Medieval Studies, 2-5 May 2002, at Kalamazoo.
This session will examine the important issue of enclosure with
particular reference to communities of religious women. It aims to
consider the role that claustration played in a variety of religious
communities ranging from established religious orders to the
semi-religious. We welcome papers on any aspect of the theme of
enclosure as it pertains to religious women and considering any region
and period in the history of medieval Europe.
